Aciddegreaser

Discussion

The product is a blend of ingredients, each having specific properties.

  1. Solvent for dissolving non water soluble substances.
  2. Surfactants to Sapponify water soluble greases and oils.
  3. Phosphoric acid to convert rust. The process here is that the phosphoric acid converts iorn oxicide into iron phosphate, liberating oxygen. The acid also etches the metal providing a suitable key for the paint.

Application

The product may be used as is, but if so desired, the strenghth may be reduced by adding up to 15% water.
Using a soft broom, the area to be treated must be scrubbed down and the Degreaser left standing on the surface for approximately twenty minutes, then immediately hosed down making certain that there is no residual product on the surface as this will adversely affect the paint.
Where rusted areas have been treated, it is advisable to apply a solvent based acrylic primer before painting. Ensure that the primer is completely dry before painting, which should be done before further exposure to moisture.
The product is supplied in 5Lt. and 25Lt. drums and should be used within two months of the date indicated on the container. Thorough stirring is required before use.

Caution

Since the product contains acid, care should be taken not to expose the product to the skin. However in the event of accidental exposure, immediately wash the affected area with clean, cold water. Should sodium bicarbonate be available, a weak solution should be made with water and the exposed area be washed down. Seek immediate medical attention,.
